BoxingScene.com has been advised that a super featherweight clash between Eloy Perez (22-0) and Vicente Escobedo (24-3) is being discussed for January of next year.
Perez must first take care of business on Friday when he faces Ira Terry (24-6) in his adopted hometown of Salinas, CA. The fight will be Perez's second in less than eight weeks and will be broadcast on Telefutura's Solo Boxeo series.
Escobedo defeated Rocky Juarez via unanimous decision last month and has won two fights in a row since losing a decision to Robert Guerrero in an HBO televised fight that took place at 135 pounds. Immediately after the loss, Escobdeo announced that he would be dropping down to the super featherweight division.
Perez has been linked to fights versus fellow prospects Adrian Broner and Luis Cruz in the past. The winner of Perez-Escobedo should have many different options available.
