Eloy Perez to Defend NABO Belt Against Ira Terry
By Ryan Maquiñana
Unbeaten junior lightweight contender Eloy Perez (22-0-2, 6 KOs) will defend his NABO belt against Ira Terry (24-6, 14 KOs) on Oct. 28 at Sherwood Hall in Perez’s adopted hometown of Salinas, Calif.
Eight weeks ago, Perez made a statement on national television by knocking out Daniel Jimenez in two rounds on TeleFutura, who will also broadcast this bout as well.
After a proposed WBO title fight with fellow Golden Boy stablemate Adrien Broner fell through at the negotiating table, Perez has seemingly turned his attention toward pursuing another world championship belt instead.
Following a 24-2 start to his pro career, Terry, a native of Memphis, Tenn., has lost his last four bouts by knockout against fighters with a combined record of 58-2. Most recently, Mike Faragon took two rounds to stop him in August.
The card, entitled “Encore,” will be promoted by Golden Boy in association with Don Chargin Productions and Paco Presents.
