Mayweather Promotions CEO, Leonard Ellerbe, was very impressed by Jeff Horn's performance in his July shocker over eight division champion Manny Pacquiao.
Horn (17-0-1, 11 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Pacquiao to capture the WBO welterweight title before a crowd of over 51,000 fans in Brisbane, Australia.
Some felt the outcome was controversial. The WBO held an investigation with independent judges and ultimately ruled that Horn was the rightful winner.
Immediately after the fight was over, Horn called for a showdown with Floyd Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs).
In the last few weeks, Horn has continued to call out Mayweather.
Mayweather, 40 years old, is snapping a two year retirement to face UFC superstar Conor McGregor in a boxing match on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Ellerbe admits that he watched Horn's fight with Pacquiao three times, but makes it clear that Horn has no shot of getting an opportunity - because Mayweather has no intention of fighting beyond McGregor.
Horn is likely heading to a November rematch with Pacquiao - which Ellerbe predicts the Australian Olympian will win.
“Nothing against Jeff Horn but Floyd is just done,” Ellerbe said to The Daily Telegraph. “He’s not looking to accomplish anything after this. He’s beaten everyone in his era in a remarkable career. He’s ready to move on to the next stage of his life with his business interests.
“Jeff can call him out all he wants but Floyd Mayweather is done. This is it. I’d like to congratulate Jeff Horn on his great victory against an all-time great of boxing. I watched the fight three times. I definitely thought he won. He was very aggressive and it was a fantastic performance. If they do the fight again I expect him to win again. He definitely stepped up on the big platform. He’s a very physical fighter and the sky’s the limit. And Floyd was very happy for the kid.”
