Edwin Rodriguez Eyes Ward, Froch, Kessler Bouts

By Ryan Burton

Undefeated super middleweight contender Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez's (24-0) name is still buzzing after his first round destruction of the normally durable Denis Grachev earlier this month in Monte Carlo.

With the victory Rodriguez has propelled his name towards the top of the division. However, Rodriguez knows that there are still many names above him and on a recent edition of BoxingScene Radio, he said that he is willing to face any of the division's elite.

"I think it is a strong division.  I think I can do a lot.  I think there are a lot of big names that I can do well against.  Names like the WBC champ Sakio Bika who just won.  Guys like Lucian Bute, Carl Froch, Mikkel Kessler.  There are a lot of guys.  Andre Ward is there. There are so many names out there," Rodriguez explained.

Many people feel that Rodriguez needs a little more seasoning before he faces the division's best fighter in Andre Ward. Rodriguez's promoter Lou DiBella agrees with this thinking and recently said that he wants to get his fighter a few more fights before such a fight happens.

"I trust my promoter Lou DiBella but I definitely want to fight Andre Ward.  He is the best in my division and that is the guy I want to fight," Rodriguez told BoxingScene Radio.

The fight against Grachev was broadcast in the US on the BeIN network that isn't in most fans' satellite or cable packages. Rodriguez ended our interview by urging the fans to check out the fight on You Tube.

"I want all the fans to go on You Tube and check out my fight versus Grachev. It doesn't take to much time to watch it," quipped Rodriguez.
