EBU light heavyweight champ Eduard Gutknecht will defend the title against mandatory challenger Juergen Braehmer December 15 in Nuremberg. Both are promoted by Sauerland, who also promotes the event.
Gutknecht, 24-1, looked lucky to get a split nod over Tony Averlant last time out but is capable boxer and probably a bit fresher than former WBO king Braehmer, 38-2, who during the last few years has pulled out of more fights than he actually participated in. Early in 2012 he returned to fight for Universum but became a free agent this summer and then signed with Sauerland.
Gutknecht vs Braehmer is an exellent matchup and the winner is likely to challenge for a world title in 2013.
