WBC flyweight mandatory challenger Edgar Sosa (48-7, 29KOs) was shocked that he knocked out Archie Solis so quickly last Saturday night. After losing two close meeting with Solis in 2001 and 2003 - he got revenge by knocking out Solis in two rounds on Saturday night. Sosa expected a much longer match.
Solis blamed his defeat on injuries that he suffered during an alleged street attack at the hands of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
I dont understand why Solis is saying that. Hes a professional and a former world champion. He wants to demean my victory with his excuses, but I can tell him that I suffered a fractured cheekbone, due to a headbutt in the ring, but thanks to good surgery Im back. I didnt expect to win this fight that fast. I was positive that I was going to defeat him, but not so early in the fight, Sosa said.
Sosa is now in line to face WBC flyweight champion Toshiyuki Igarashi.
