Eddie Hearn Eyes Lee Selby vs. Nonito Donaire Bout

By Edward Chaykovsky

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom is very interested in making a fight between Lee Selby (18-1, 7KOs) and Nonito Donaire (32-2, 21KOs).

Both boxers have upcoming fights. Selby returns on Saturday night at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, and faces Romulo Koasicha. Donaire goes for another world title on May 31st when he takes on WBA featherweight champion Simpiwe Vetyeka in Macau.

Hearn told Daily Mail: 'Saturday is a huge night for Selby, who is not only a Welshman fighting at home but is also a fight or two away from fighting for the WBC title.

'I really like Nonito Donaire next for Selby. There are talks of him moving up to featherweight and we could make that as a final eliminator for a shot at Jhonny Gonzalez, the WBC champion.

'I have reached out to Top Rank and it is a fight I’d love to make."

Selby is average or worse. Donaire should have no problems.
