Unbeaten Bronx junior lightweight Emanuel Gonzalez kept his “0” in the opener of the Golden Boy Promotions show at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, outpointing Alabama’s Michael Doyle over four fairly uneventful rounds. Scores were 40-36 across the board for Gonzalez, now 12-0 with 7 KOs. Doyle (2-4, 1 KO), who was coming off a first round TKO win over previously unbeaten Neuky Santelises just five days ago, wasn’t able to see lightning strike twice against the patient Gonzalez, who was able to stagger his foe twice in the first round, but wasn’t able to get him out of there.

The fighters are ready for Golden Boy Promotions' new Monday night fight series on Fox Sports 1. In the main event, Danny Jacobs (25-1, 22KOs) will face Giovanni Lorenzo (32-5, 24KOs). Jacobs weighed 159.2-pounds, while Lorenzo was 158.6-pounds.

NEW YORK - Big-time boxing hits Broadway on Monday, August 19 when the brand new Golden Boy Live!series premieres on FOX Sports 1, America's new sports network, from Best Buy Theater in Manhattan with an exciting tripleheader. Headlining this groundbreaking event is top middleweight contender Danny Jacobs of Brooklyn facing former world title challenger Giovanni Lorenzo of Manhattan in a 10-round bout for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Middleweight Championship. In the co-main event, the Bronx's Eddie Gomez risks his perfect professional record in an eight-round welterweight match-up against Philadelphia veteran Steve Upsher Chambers. Adding to the local New York City flavor is 2012 U.S. Olympian and Staten Island native Marcus Browne who will be featured in a televised fight against an opponent to be determined as well as bantamweight prospect and Brooklynite Claude Staten Jr. who will be featured on the non-televised portion of the fight card.

BoxingScene.com has been advised that hot prospect Eddie Gomez is set to fight Steve Upsher Chambers on Aug. 19 at the Best Buy Theater in New York, part of a Fox Sports Network card. Gomez, 20, is a fast-rising prospect in the junior middleweight division. Promoted by Golden Boy, his record stands at 14-0 (9 KOs). The native of Hondura has shown good speed, power and athleticism. Chambers (24-2-1, 6 KOs), the brother of Eddie Chambers, represents the stiffest test of Gomez's young career.

Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Peter Quillin (29-0, 21KOs) dropped Fernando Guerrero (25-2, 19KOs) four times to score a seventh round stoppage, and retains the WBO middleweight championship. The first round was a little slow as both fighters were looking for openings. In the second round, Quillin landed a huge counter right hand put Guerrero down on his back. Guerrero beat the count. Quillin got him against the ropes, let his hands go and scored a second knockdown. Guerrero took more punishment and barely survived the round.

Unbeaten New York City cruiserweight Steve Bujaj hurt Zeferino Albino with the first punch he threw - a left hook to the head - and though things didn’t get much better for the Philadelphian throughout the rest of the four round opener at Barclays Center, he did gamely go the distance before losing a shutout decision that dropped his record to 4-16-3 with 2 KOs. It was the 13th unbeaten opponent Albino had faced in his career. Scores for the 9-0 (6 KOs) Bujaj were 40-36 across the board.

Madison Square Garden, New York City - Middleweight prospect John Thompson (10-0, 3 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Eli Agustama (6-6, 3 KOs). The scores were, 59-55, 60-54 and 59-55. In the last bout before the main televised portion of the evening began, 23-year old Jr. Middleweight Jorge Melendez (25-2-1, 24 KO), 155, of Manati, Puerto Rico, laid a one-sided battering on 34-year old James Winchester (15-7, 5 KO), 155, of Greensboro, North Carolina, to score a stoppage in the fourth. After scoring knockdowns in rounds two and three, Melendez looked to close the show in the fourth. A body tangle at mid-ring sent Winchester to the floor. No knockdown was scored. Winchester motioned that he had hurt his leg or ankle and was given a moment to walk it off. The crowd booed nastily at Winchester who nodded, in pain, that he could go on. It didn’t last much longer, Melendez trapping him on the ropes and ripping with both fists, referee Ricky Gonzalez saving Winchester at :54 second of round four.

In the first fight to be held in Brooklyn’s Barclay Center, local junior middleweight favorite Boyd Melson suffered an upset of sorts, as fellow Brooklynite Jason Thompson held him to a six round draw. Scores were 56-56 in a bout in which the two traded knockdowns.
