Former IBU and USBA heavyweight titlist Eddie Chambers takes to the ring at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena for a six rounder against Prague’s Tomas Mrazek later tonight in his first outing under the guidance of new trainer Peter Fury. Chambers MK II debuts on the undercard of Stuart Hall’s IBF bantamweight title defence against Martin Ward, which is promoted by Dennis Hobson and Frank Warren and will be shown live on BoxNation here in the U.K.
Comebacking former world heavyweight title challenger "Fast" Eddie Chambers (37-4, 19 KOs) got his first win in three years and made it look easy against hulking but bitterly overmatched Czech journeyman Tomas Mrazek (9-46-6, 5 KOs). Chambers, who has turned 32 tonight, stopped Mrazek with 25 seconds left in the sixth and final round. Chambers, who lost in 2012 to Tomasz Adamek and then in 2013 to Thabiso Mchunu, has been outjabbing the plodding Czech for all six rounds, adding damaging series of power punches at will. Mrazek was repeatedly hurt, totally disoriented and unfit to give fits to Chambers. However, he lasted well into the sixth and was prematurely stopped by the referee on a questionably shut eye, despite vigorously fighting back.

Heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15KOs) suffered a cut during a sparring session with Eddie Chambers, and refuses to withdraw from next Saturday's fight against Joey Abell (29-7, 28 KOs) at the Copper Box Arena in London. Fury mocked former two division world champion David Haye, who withdrew from two scheduled fights with Fury - with one of the withdrawal being due to a cut suffered in sparring.
MANCHESTER - American heavyweight hitman Eddie Chambers has joined Team Fury Promotions and will be trained by the renowned Peter Fury. The Philadelphian bruiser turned professional in 2000 at just 18 and has amassed a record of 40 fights with 36 wins and only four defeats. At 31 he has been in with some of the leading names in the heavyweight division including IBF, WBA and WBO world champion Wladimir Klitschko, as well as going the distance with Alexander Povetkin and Tomasz Adamek. He now joins the stable of rising heavyweight sensations Tyson Fury and Hughie Fury, who have made huge strides in recent times under the tutelage of Peter Fury.

I do not want to in any form or fashion diminish that win by making excuses about my performance in the ring. I did my best that I could to make the fight. To win the fight. Losing this decision woke up my spirit to compete again and I will continue to pursue my career as a Cruiserweight. I felt fine throughout the bout. The weight loss was not a factor in my performance. I did not expect Mchunu to fight such a defensive, awkward fight. I was trying to follow instructions from my trainer, James Ali Bashir. It was very difficult to do as I am a counter puncher as well who was forced into being the aggressor. I felt that if I did not doing something to make the fight, there would have been no action during the fight. I am not that kinda guy who is going to lay around crying over spilled milk.
Less was less for Eddie Chambers, who avg'd just 5 punches landed/37 thrown per round after dropping down to cruiserweight. Thabiso McHunu avg'd only 30 thrown per round, but landed 9 per frame.
Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, Connecticut - Thabiso Mchunu (14-1, 10KOs) spoiled the plans of Eddie Chambers (36-4, 18KOs) with a ten round unanimous decision. The scores were 97-93, 99-91, 99-91. Chambers, who spent his career at heavyweight, was looking to become a force in the cruiserweight ranks. Mchunu outworked Chambers, landed the better shots and made the more experienced fighter miss many of his shots.
Eddie Chambers and Tomasz Adamek will appear on the same card Saturday night in Uncasville, Conn. Despite dropping what many considered a debatable decision to Adamek in his last fight, Chambers isn’t consumed with sharing the same ring with Adamek again. When asked if he wants a rematch on a recent conference call, Chambers said, “It’s fine either way.” Philadelphia’s Chambers has moved down to cruiserweight, but the former heavyweight contender is certain he’ll never fight Poland’s Adamek, a former cruiserweight champion, below the heavyweight limit. “I don’t think he ever would want to come back down in weight,” Chambers said. “He seems to be comfortable now at 220, so I don’t think he would want to come down and have to drop weight again, especially now that he gets older [36]. But absolutely, [I’d do it] if he wanted to come back down to cruiserweight or fight at heavyweight.” Chambers (36-3, 18 KOs) will face South African southpaw Thabiso Mchunu (13-1, 10 KOs) in a 10-round cruiserweight fight Saturday night. The Chambers-Mchunu match will be one of three bouts broadcast by NBC Sports Network (10:30 p.m. ET), which also will televise Adamek’s 10-round heavyweight fight against Dominick Guinn (34-9-1, 23 KOs) from Mohegan Sun Arena.
