Dzinziruk: There is Nothing Special About Sergio Martinez

By Mark Vester

WBO junior middleweight champion Sergei Dzinziruk (37-0, 23KOs) is not worried about his upcoming fight with Sergio Martinez (46-2, 25KOs). The bout takes place for the vacant WBC Diamond Belt at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut. Dzinziruk doesn't buy into the hype that revolves around Martinez.

"There is nothing special about Martinez. He's just another fighter coming in front of me and the best man will win," Dzinziruk said.

Dzinziruk's new trainer, Buddy McGirt, is confident about his boxer's ability to deal with the slick style of Martinez. McGirt set Dzinziruk to spar with a few very slick boxers, who in the early rounds gave him some trouble, but it didn't take him long to figure all of them out.

"In the gym, he faced some fighters who were more awkward than Sergio. After a few rounds, Sergei was picking them out," McGirt said.

I wonder if he now thinks Martinez is a special fighter after that whooping.

Naw Sergios a good fighter. I been waiting to see him against a guy who can box for a while. Should be interesting.
I assume you were talking about what I said and when did I say that Sergio's wins were not good? As I have stated I just don't think he is as great as you make him out to be,…
He already did that somewhere else.
I plan to study the details of Sergio’s weakness in more detail, but right now I can tell that he’s slow, tightened, clumsy and rigid … he doesn’t have the amateur background that I…
