Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire and former WBO/WBA flyweight champion Brian Viloria will be on the same Top Rank fight card in Macau in May.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum confirmed what he told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard he met with the executives of the Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino and “got the go ahead . I’ll have the actual date in May before I leave so I am not a hundred percent certain of the actual date but it will definitely be in May and then we’ll go back and finalize everything.”

Arum said South Africa’s WBA featherweight champion Simpiwe Vetyeka “is all lined up and is all set.”

He also told the Standard that Viloria “will definitely be on the card. I made a commitment to his manager Gary Gittelsohn  he’s going to fight in March on our card and then we’ll bring him back in May.”

The fight card at the Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel will see Viloria move up to super flyweight  in a ten round bout against an opponent still be to named.

Vetyeka (26-2, 16 KO’s) won the title from Indonesia’s Chris John (48-1-3, 22 KO’s) beating John for the first time in his long 15-year pro career in Metro City, Western Australia last December 6 by a by a 7th round stoppage.

John failed to come out for the 7th round after having been knocked staggered and knocked down in the 6th round by a series of huge right hands from Vetyeka.
Donaire  said that since the fight is being held in Macau, there is a slight possibility he may train in the Philippines.

The four division world champion who is chasing a fifth world title in the featherweight division described Vetyeka as “a really good fighter and is the toughest of all the guys in that division. He’s slick and he’s got power.”

Didn't Donaire say he would welcome a fight with Rigo again? Except issue would be weight, I assume. Ah well, there's good names around FW-SFW.. maybe a Russell jr vs Donaire.
He allready boxed Rigo, idiot. No one wants to see that again. Rigo sould go back to the amatures.
So basically Donaire got embarrased by an amateur.

If Donaire can beat Vetyeka, it would establish him as one of the top featherweights in the world. I'd love to see the winner of this fight unify with winner of Salido Lomachenko.
