Donaire Vows To Show His Full Potential in Carl Frampton Clash

Four-weight World Champion Nonito Donaire says he's wanted to face Carl Frampton for a while and on April 21st he gets his shot.

In November, Frampton outpointed tough Mexican Horacio Garcia over 10 pulsating rounds. Now he must overcome Donaire if he plans to reclaim his seat at the Featherweight top table.

Donaire, 35, believes their styles will gel at the SSE Arena in Belfast.

"I've been wanting this fight for a long time. I’ve always been that type of guy that wants to fight everybody," he told Rappler.

"I see his style, my style, somewhat similar, we both have power, we both can brawl, we can box, we can do all that stuff. I think this is going to be a very interesting fight and I'm very excited for it."

The 'Filipino Flash' held the WBO World Super-Bantamweight belt in 2016, but unbeaten Jessie Magdaleno defeated the veteran on points.

He bounced back with a decision win over Ruben Garcia Hernandez in September, and believes that victory will prove to be a stepping-stone towards another World Title.

Donaire, who was voted as the Boxing Writers Association of America's Fighter of the Year in 2012, is confident he has much more to offer in the sport.

"I think I have a lot of years ahead of me. I've fought well in the past, but I've never pushed myself to the limit of anything. I've been smart and that's something I've always had, but now pushing it to the next level, you'll see the potential that I have again," he added.

The winner of this Belfast barnstormer could be in line to face Lee Selby or Josh Warrington in the summer.

Tickets for Carl Frampton v Nonito Donaire are released on Thursday 11th January at 10am.

People are sleeping on Donaire. Don't be surprised if he sleeps Frampton in this one. If not, I see him getting that W.

After Frampton's last performance it's not out of the question that he loses to Donaire. He's going to have to be much better and smarter if he wants to leave the ring with a win.

Frampton should outbox Donaire. Donaire's too predictable. He is still very dangerous because of his speed and power but at this level you need more than that. And Donaire saying he never pushed himself to the limit tells me what…
