Accoridng to a report in The Philippine Star, WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire is planning to return on October 1 or October 15, and then plans to take a fight on the undercard of Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito on December 3 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Donaire recently signed a new multi-year agreement with Top rank. Donaire would like to WBA champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno in October, and a possible bump in weight to face WBO super bantamweight champion Jorge Arce in December.
“I want a unification. We’re looking at Oct. 1 or 15. I still don’t know whom I’ll fight but I’d prefer a champion. It could be a Japanese or a Panamanian or whomever. Then, I’m hoping to fight in the undercard of the Antonio Margarito-Miguel Cotto main event at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 3. In between, on Nov. 11, Rachel and I will formalize our wedding vows at a Church wedding in Alabang,” Donaire said.
“We know Arce is looking for a big money fight. I don’t know if he’ll want to fight. But I’ll take on anyone whom my manager and Top Rank put in front of me.”
