With one injury came two significant changes in a single fight week, both of which were salvaged in just a few hours.

The July 16 Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox co-feature battle initially took a hit when Luis Collazo was forced to withdraw from his welterweight battle versus unbeaten Sammy Vasquez due to injury, as reported by BoxingScene.com reporter Keith Idec. Not only was a replacement secured, but the matchup gets a significant upgrade when Felix Diaz agreed to step in on short notice.

His accepting the assignment meant preparing for a nationally televised fight in Birmingham, Alabama four days after his previously scheduled PBC on FS1 headliner in Nice, California.

As Diaz was pulled from his planned main event battle versus Levan Ghvamichava (16-2-1, 12KOs), the void was filled almost immediately by unbeaten Domonique Dolton (17-0-1, 9KOs). Both sides agreed to terms, included a catchweight of 149 pounds with a one-pound allowance.

Ghvamichava was already moving up in weight to face Diaz, but agreed to the two additional pounds in order to keep alive his second consecutive FS1-headlining appearance. Dolton - who hasn't fought since a disputed draw with Oscar Molina last September - will be coming down from super welterweight (154-pounds).

"Domonique knows what's at stake, and he's been in the gym staying in shape for an opportunity to come his way," Jose Nunez, Dolton's manager told BoxingScene.com on Friday. "Moving down in weight for this fight won't be an issue, and we appreciate Ghvamichava's people making the concession to allow this fight to take place."

Nunez also manages Diaz, the 2008 Olympic Gold medalist from Dominican Republic who has been stuck on the sidelines since a questionable split decision defeat to Lamont Peterson last October live on NBC. He was in training for a May 28 showdown with former lightweight titlist Miguel Vazquez, only to suffer an untimely injury as he was pulled from the FS1 show and replaced by Erick Bone.

The shift in plans meant skipping his second consecutive FS1 date, although for good reason.

"This fight in primetime, it's the biggest of Felix' career, probably even bigger than when he fought (Peterson)," Nunez states. "A win over Vasquez, and we'll be in position to call out the welterweight champs. It was the move that he had to make, but it also means that Domonique now gets to return to the ring, so everyone wins out in the end."

Included among that group are the fans, as well as event handlers for both shows, which are now kept alive without having to scramble worrying about substituting with an inferior product.
