Dimitrenko vs Sprott Being Targeted For August Clash

By Per Ake Persson

EBU heavyweight champ Alexander Dimitrenko (31-1, 21KOs) will make a voluntary defence of the title against British veteran Michael Sprott (36-16, 17KOs). Universum will promote the fight on either August 19 or 20 with venue to be announced. Sprott returns from his split decision loss to Tye Fields in the Prizefighter tournament, and Dimitrenko is coming back after the brutal knockout of Albert Sosnowski.

This is not a very interesting fight. I like Sprott, but at this point in his career, Dimitrenko should be looking to fight other ranked contenders. Dimitrenko-Mormeck was apparently in discussions and would be a more interesting fight.
