The EBU heavyweight champion, Alexander Dimitrenko (32-1, 21KOs), feels ready to face Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko. The 6'7 29-year-old boxer believes the Klitschko brothers are staying away from fighting boxers who are legit heavyweights, and would rather face fighters who are moving up from the lower weight divisions. Dimitrenko returned on Saturday in Hamburg to retain his title with a hard fought decision over British veteran Michael Sprott.
"I would fight them. I would come to the ring against one of the brothers tomorrow. But they treat me as a threat, so in various interviews they mention the names of other contenders. But this is laughable, because the Klitschkos have begun to actively box with light heavyweights and fighters who are just starting out at heavyweight. Now, Wladimir, for example, will fight with [Jean Marc] Mormeck. The Klitschkos are doing everything right in terms of earning money. German television agrees to broadcast their fighters," Dimitrenko told Alexander Pavlov.
