Holiday Inn, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada - Dierry Jean (23-0, 15KOs) punished and stopped Ivan Cano (21-4, 14 KOs), the younger brother of Pablo Cesar Cano, in the eleventh round of a bout for the NABF and NABA light welterweight titles.

Jean's faster hands, hard combinations and his hooks to the body were the key factors in controlling the action. Cano would try to rally in the final twenty seconds of every round. Jean's right hand would often find a home to the side of Cano's head. At the end of the seventh round, Cano lost a point for intentional low blows. In the eight, Jean was unloading with the right hand.

In the ninth, Cano may have suffered a broken nose. Cano had pretty much gave up at this point and was trying to coast for the most part until the final bell. But he never saw that final bell. In the eleventh round, a barrage of punches finally put Cano down. He made it to his feet but didn't want any more punishment and the referee waved it off.
