Diego Magdaleno To Return on Chavez Jr. vs. Vera Card

Super featherweight contender Diego Magdaleno will return to the ring on September 7th at Staples Center in Los Angeles, Frank Espinoza announced on Monday morning.
 
Espinoza has managed Magdaleno for the last couple of months.
 
Espinoza told Boxingscene.com on Monday that there is no opponent yet for Magdaleno or whether his fight will be televised on HBO. In the main event of the Top Rank promoted-card, Julio Cesar Chavez will fight Bryan Vera in a scheduled 12 round bout.
 
Magdaleno (23-1, 9 KOs) suffered the first loss of his professional career in his last bout: a 12 round split decision to Roman Martinez on April 6th in Macau, China.

While most of the boxing eyes will be watching the Top Rank card on HBO2 from Macau, China on Saturday, an intriguing heavyweight bout will also take place on the card.
 
Unbeaten heavyweights Joe Hanks and Andy Ruiz square off in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Venetian Casino Resort in Macau.
 
The bout will air on tape delay as part of Unimas’ “Solo Boxeo” telecast at 11PM ET/PT, Top Rank publicist Ricardo Jimenez told Boxingscene.com on Monday afternoon.
 
Hanks (21-0, 14 KOs) and Ruiz (19-0, 13 KOs) are taking a major step up in competition facing one another. Hanks has not fought since December 6th, winning a six round unanimous decision over Maurenzo Smith. Ruiz has fought three times in that span, including a first round knockout over Carl Davis on June 8th.
