Diego Chaves Returns, Stops Alberto Godoy In Three

By Jake Donovan

Welterweight contender Diego Chaves returned to the win column with a 3rd round stoppage of Juan Alberto Godoy in their welterweight bout Saturday evening in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Chaves scored an official knockdown in round three (courtesy of a standing eight count), followed by a flurry to finish off Godoy.

The bout serves as his ring return following a seven-month hiatus. Chavez hadn't fought since suffering the lone loss of his career, a 10th round stoppage at the lethal hands of unbeaten American welterweight Keith Thurman last July in the United States.

I think Chaves has the goods to be one of the top welterweights.

I quiet liked what i saw from Chavez in the early stages of the Thurman fight. I'd be interested in seeing him fight again.
