AMIR KHAN has been promised a brawl by Julio Diaz when he makes his British ring return on April 27.
Sheffield Arena is one of the venues being considered for Khan’s first fight in the UK in two years and former world lightweight champion Diaz claims it will be at a catchweight of 143lbs.
Bolton’s former world light-welterweight champion has found it hard finding an opponent, but Diaz has agreed to step down from welterweight.
Mexican Diaz, 33, is confident of inflicting a third defeat in four fights on Khan, who he says can’t take a punch.
He said: “There are a lot weaknesses – Khan can’t take a punch and when he gets overwhelmed he tends to panic too much.
“I aim to make it a brawl. I won’t be too technical or too pretty. It will be a real fight.
“We are waiting for confirmation from the Khan camp, but as of now, they have my contract, which I have signed. We have reached an agreement on a deal and everything is secure.”
Khan, 26, beat Carlos Molina in December and has already started training in America for Diaz, who was held to a draw in his last fight and has suffered seven losses in 48 fights.Tags: Amir Khan , Julio Diaz , Khan-Diaz , Khan vs. Diaz
