Devon Alexander Slated To Return on 8/18 on Showtime

According to various sources, former junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander (23-1, 13KOs) is likely returning to action on August 18th on Showtime. Alexander is coming off of a dominating ten round unanimous decision victory over Marcos Maidana from this past February - in a fight where Alexander made his welterweight debut. Alexander's opponent and the venue are still to de determined.

I never understood this - why do networks buy a fighter's fight w/o knowin who the opponent is - this often leads to so-so fights because theyl get whoever the "best available opponent" is. Just by taking a quick look at boxrec and top 25 welterweights, and knowing showtime, im predicting the opponent will be Antonio Decarie, who fights at the bell centre on 4/20 for the WBC international title, so it will likely be for the WBC silver title with Alexander, maybe in Montreal, and it ...
