BoxingScene recently ran an article in which American welterweight contender Carson Jones tabbed Kell Brook of the UK to knockout IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander in their January 19th showdown. Jones lost a close decision to Brook in July.
Alexander appeared on last night's edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show and responded to Jones' remarks.
"First off you can't listen to a guy who is a sparring partner and an opponent. He has never been a champion and has been an opponent his whole career. For him to say that, it shows he just doesn't know boxing at all. He is on the sideline looking in. I have to respect him but he doesn't know what he is talking about," Alexander stated.
The 25-year-old St. Louis, MO native said that he doesn't see anything to be excited about with Kell Brook either and promises to put on an exciting performance.
"He is a basic fighter. There is nothing special about him. They are just pumping him up in the UK. I don't see nothing about him," Alexander told us on The Boxing Lab.
"It is going to be a dominant performance by me. He doesn't do any one thing special that I have to worry about. He's a basic fighter," he concluded.
