Devon Alexander Injured, Brook Fight To Be Postponed
Promoter Eddie Hearn has received word from Golden Boy Promotions that IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander has injured his bicep in training camp and withdrew from the scheduled fight with mandatory challenger Kell Brook. The Showtime televised fight was set for February 23rd in Detroit, Michigan.
"We received news from Golden Boy that Devon Alexander has pulled out of the fight due to a bicep injury. We will have a new date asap," indicated Hearn.
The event also has a world title defense by IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage, facing challenger Ishe Smith. Now word yet if that fight will move as scheduled or get postponed as well to the new date.
MORE TO COME..................
Alexander-brook is a prelim type fight come to reason here: this fight is a prelim type of fight for the undercard of a major fight. neither of these guys could give away tickets in Detroit crime city USA. no drawing…Comment by S. Saddler 1310 on 02-05-2013
It's ridiculous. This fight would fill a 15k venue in the UK; but in the USA it can't even shift 1,000 tickets. Move it across the pond.
mr. Alexander is too fragile to travel, apparently.Comment by kiaba360 on 02-05-2013
Second fight in a row for Alexander that has had to be rescheduled.Comment by yoz on 02-05-2013
