Derry Mathews Tops in Manchester on December 7

Dave Coldwell’s December 7th show at Manchester’s Bowlers venue received a significant boost today as it was announced that Liverpool’s Derry Mathews will aim to put his Prizefighter disappointment behind him as he makes a speedy return to action against an opponent to be confirmed. The former British champion possesses genuine aspirations to return to the lofty Lonsdale level he occupied earlier this year and he is grateful for the opportunity provided by the Yorkshire-based promoter.

“To fight on a Dave Coldwell show is a big honour for me and I’ll thank him for having me by putting on a performance to remember,” insisted the Liverpool fighter. “I was at Dave’s show on Friday and it was one of the best events I’ve attended in a while because all the fights we’re exactly how I like them. Dave has a reputation as a fan-friendly promoter and the same thing can be said about my style, so it promises to be another exciting night on December 7th.”

Coldwell, who will also be showcasing a vast number of his North-West talents on December 7th, is delighted to have the former WBU champion starring on his 2012 finale. “To be involved with someone like Derry Mathews is a promoter’s dream because he’s someone that knows exactly what the fans wish to see. He’s a popular guy over in Liverpool and he’s already told me that he plans on bringing big numbers over to Manchester with him on fight night so it promises to be a special atmosphere. Derry has been involved in several memorable encounters and I’m confident that he’ll be in another one on December 7th.”
