DERECK CHISORA has accused Tyson Fury of earning his reputation because he comes from a notorious Romany gypsy family.
Their fighting history dates back to the 19th century and his dad John – currently serving nine years after gouging a man’s eye out – was a bare knuckle champion.
Chisora, 27, has kept relatively quiet before Saturday’s British and Commonwealth heavyweight title defence against the trash- talking traveller at Wembley Arena.
But the unbeaten Londoner said: “He has traded on being a traveller. Fury is all boots and braces but has no substance.
“Let’s face it, if he didn’t have that name no-one would have taken any notice of him based on his achievements.
“Fury’s comments and attitude are quite funny – his wit is just not sharp enough to get under my skin but he keeps wasting his energy trying to.
“He is so desperate for fame that it is taking him away from reality. It’s laughable and he would do anything or say anything to get a headline.
“When it matters most, in the ring, he just hasn’t delivered.”
Del Boy’s trainer Don Charles is more wary of the Manchester challenger and said: “I actually like Tyson because he spices boxing up.
“He talks the talk and so far he’s backed it up because he’s beaten everyone put in front of him.”
Fury, 23, believes the sacrifice he has made this year proves how much he wants to topple Chisora in their eagerly-awaited clash.
His wife Paris and daughter Venezuela stayed in Cheshire while he trained in Austria and Canada and he has lived for the last few weeks at his uncle and trainer Hughie’s caravan park in Lancaster.
Fury added: “That just shows how determined I am. It is a lonely existence.
“Training, sleeping and eating is all I am doing.”
