Dereck Chisora To Face Edmund Gerber For EBU Belt
By Per Ake Persson
As BoxingScene.com reported a few days ago, Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11KOs) will not fight Denis Boytsov for the vacant EBU heavyweight title. Instead Chisora will take on Boytsov's stablemate at Sauerland Event, Edmund Gerber (23-1, 14KOs). The fight will go ahead either on September 21 at Copper Box Arena in London or September 27.
For Gerber, fresh off a number of poor performances with close, dubious wins - this is his big chance but it must be said that Chisora begins as an overwhelming favorite.
As Boytsov, the plans for him are not known at this stage but he has stated he has no interest in the EBU title
Shouldn't this be Chisora-Sprott?Comment by beez721 on 08-30-2013

I don't think this is the best fight for Chisora at this point in his career, but regardless of that I'm surprised they picked such a poor opponent for the main event fight on the opening night of a new…Comment by PittyPat on 08-30-2013
I'm shocked that Gerber appears to be a real German, rather than all these Armenians and Bosnians masquerading as "Germans" just because they happen to have been granted citizenship.Post a Comment - View More User Comments (14)
