Unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder will return to the ring on December 15th Golden Boy Promotions card at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, CA, matchmaker Eric Gomez told Boxingscene.com.
“His (Wilder) fight will be televised on Showtime,” said Gomez, who is also Golden Boy Promotions’ Vice President. Gomez did not clarify if he will fight on the Showtime Championship Boxing telecast or on Showtime Extreme.
No word yet on who Wilder will face.
In his last fight on September 8th in Costa Mesa, CA, Wilder stopped unbeaten, but overmatched Damon McCreary in the second round of a scheduled 10 round bout.
Wilder, who hails from Tuscaloosa, AL, does have an impressive record of 25-0, 25 knockouts. However, the 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist in Beijing has faced very limited opposition throughout his four-year professional career.
Should the fight land on Showtime, the network will more than likely have to approve of an opponent that would test the tall and athletic Wilder.
Golden Boy Promotions has been Wilder’s promoter since the onset of his career.
Headlining the card that evening will be former world title holder Amir Khan taking on unbeaten Carlos Molina.
