Del Valle Hoping To Stop Beranza, Make a Statement

BoxingScene.com recently spoke with up rising featherweight prospect Orlandito Del Valle (14-0). The fighter of Puerto Rican descent went 3-0 in 2011 and is scheduled to return to the ring on January 21st at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. He is set to face Jose Angel Beranza (36-21) of Mexico. Beranza may not have a pretty record but he is coming off of a big upset win over the previously undefeated Christopher Martin this past October. He also has given Puerto Rican prospects Juan Carlos Velasquez and Jesus Rojas the first losses of his careers.

Del Valle is well aware of this and is not taking Beranza lightly. While he isn't predicting a stoppage, Del Valle feels that if he is able to knock Beranza out that he will send a strong message to the boxing world.

"If I stop Beranza I will be making a statement. I am not going in there looking for it but I truly believe it can happen. Beranza has been in there with everyone. He was in with (Wilfredo) Vazquez Jr, with Teon Kennedy and he just beat Christopher Martin. He has beaten a couple Puerto Rican prospects as well. If I can stop him I will be making a statement," Del Valle told Boxingscene.com

Well the stoppage didnt come. Beranza was in great shape [IMG]http://c0014144.r32.cf1.rackcdn.com/x2_a875b30[/IMG] But a near shutout isnt bad at all. 80-72, 78-74, 79-73 Hopefully he gets a tv date next. I like the idea of him vs either Martin or Kennedy…
