According to promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports, IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (21-1, 14KOs) will make the first defense of his title on a date in October in a venue in London.

DeGale traveled over to America to capture the vacant IBF title with a twelve round unanimous decision win over Andre Dirrell in a Premier Boxing Champions televised main event from Boston. He became the first boxing in British history to win a gold medal in the Olympics and then moved on to win a world title as a professional.

As far the opponent, the field is wide open and DeGale told Hearn that he will fight anyone in the division.

"He will fight anyone in the division. If I came to him tomorrow, there is not one fighter that I could offer him that he would turn down," Hearn told Express. "October in London we come home, we fill up a big great arena and finally James DeGale is the superstar that all of us thought, over the years, he would become."
