Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya expects better numbers for Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's second pay-per-view fight as an A-side headliner. Back in March, Canelo returned after his decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr., and stopped Alfredo Angulo. The Showtime Pay-Per-View generated 350,000 buys, which Golden Boy and Showtime saw as a very successful number.

On July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Canelo will headline another Showtime Pay-Per-View, against WBA 'regular' champion Erislandy Lara.

"It's very interesting, because you have to take into account that [his fight with Angulo] was the first fight where he was the star attraction on pay-per-view and sold that many houses, it was awesome. I remember my first fight as a headliner on pay-per-view, I reached 250,000 homes, which made what Canelo did amazing - because it was against a fighter that lost to Lara and obviously this time we expect more homes," said De La Hoya told Carlos Narvaez.

I will wait till next week to see the fight cus GBP jipped us on the Angulo Canelo fight that was obviously a thrown fight. Canelo will be banned for quite some time till I'm sure the cash cow cinammon isn't being protected. I want to see this one but feel like GBP owes me $50 bucks so won't supp...

[QUOTE=smoothsmg]Yeah the replies I am seeing on here are pretty amazing. This is a fight that us real boxing fans should be telling casuals about. This is the fight of the two best fighters in the division and its like people want it to fail. I am very much looking forward to this encounter, and...
