When BoxingScene.com asked Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya about a potential fight between junior weltereights Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse - the Golden President quickly shifted gears and said the fight he wants to make right now is match between Matthysse (32-2, 30KOs) and Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23KOs).

Making the fight is not a good possibility. Rios is promoted by Top Rank, and they haven't done business with De La Hoya's company in a few years. Not to mention, Rios is being positioned for a major fight against Manny Pacquiao on April 21 [should Pacquiao beat Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8].

De La Hoya is willing to do whatever it takes to make a fight with Rios and Matthysse.

"Lucas Matthysse is one of the best junior welterweights out there in the world, but me personally I would love to see Brandon Rios against Lucas Matthysse. I'm willing to meet [Bob Arum] at the stateline because it's a long walk [from Los Angeles to Las Vegas]. I just read a comment that he doesn't want to work with us.....why? Let's make the fights happen that the public wants to watch," De La Hoya said.
really? so what you're saying is is that lucas vs rios isn't as appealing as garcia vs either? the three of them need to fight each other. to assume that one is ducking another to fight another is silly.
Naw, I got to agree with doctorsleepoff. Golden girl ...
I got Mattheyse over Maidana if they ever fought by vicious K.O. In my opinion maidana is overrated and over-hyped .
No matter how good your footwork or your chin is, Maidana has a punching chance against anyone. The main advantage i clearly see in favour of Lucas is his ...

i GOT MATT OVER Ria if they ever fought. Matteyse is too skilled, too quick, too experienced, too strong, too powerful Truly undefeated unlike Brandon ria. The only thing that would be put into question would be if Mattesye could handle ria's face first approach/pressure for a full 10/12 round fi...
I don't see this happening. Rios provably will face Pac IMO. Oscar is trying too hard to find someone decent to face Lucas to make us forget about Danny Garcia.
I got Mattheyse over Maidana if they ever fought by vicious K.O.
Hah, De La Hoya is blatantly ducking Garcia vs Matthyse. He's willing to dump his high risk and low reward fighters on Top Rank like Lara and Matthyse, but doesn't put them against his own stable.
really? so what you're saying is is that lucas vs rios isn't ...
