| De La Hoya Giving Victor Ortiz Tips To Beat Mayweather
|
|
By Jhonny Gonzalez During a series of questions on his personal Twitter page, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya said that he and Jose Luis Castillo are the boxers who came the closest to beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. De La Hoya claims to "have the formula" to beat Mayweather and he plans to provide that formula to Ortiz. De La Hoya said that he doesn't have a grudge against Mayweather, but he wants to back the underdog. Ortiz defends the WBC welterweight championship against Mayweather Jr. on Sept. 17 in Las Vegas. De La Hoya's company promotes Ortiz. De La Hoya lost a close split decision to Mayweather Jr. in May of 2007. A year and half later De La Hoya was dominated and stoped by Pacquiao. He told his followers that he would have liked to face both men when he was in the prime of his career.
