Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya wants his star fighter, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs), to get the most impressive victory possible by scoring a knockout victory when he faces IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs).

Canelo and Golovkin will collide during Mexican Independence Day weekend, on September 16th, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

For Canelo, it will be his first fight at the full middleweight limit of 160-pounds. Canelo had previously held the WBC middleweight crown, but only fought at a catch-weight of 155-pounds when he captured the belt and made his first and only defense.

After two years of hype, and many critics accusing Canelo of avoiding the fight, the contest is finally here and De La Hoya wants his boxer to close the show with a big bang.

"For me, [Canelo] has to knock him out, he has to go in to knock him out, go with everything and leave everything in the ring. Yes, it's true that he'll have to be very smart, but he must go in the fight by always coming forward, with good combinations to the body and push Golovkin back," De La Hoya told ESPN Deportes.

"For that reason, I expect a very interesting fight, very entertaining, because Golovkin does not like to back down, he prefers to be the one who leads the initiative, so it's going to be an exciting fight."

Canelo was last seen in action during Cinco De Mayo weekend in Las Vegas, when - as the WBO junior middleweight champion - he moved up by over ten-pounds to a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds to win a lopsided twelve round decision over Mexican rival Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

For his part, Golovkin stepped in the ring in March, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Daniel Jacobs at New York's Madison Square Garden. It was the first time in Golovkin's career where he went the full twelve round distance. And Jacobs was able to snap Golovkin's streak of 23 knockouts
