Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya says WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) will be present for the May 4th showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Robert Guerrero, taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. De La Hoya says Canelo is pushing to fight Mayweather in the fall. De La Hoya, along with Canelo and his management team, will watch the fight and make a decision on the Mexican champion's future after the Showtime pay-per-view is over.

“Canelo would love to have Mayweather as his next opponent, but we'll make that decision on May 4th," De La Hoya said.

De La Hoya was very impressed with Canelo's twelve round decision victory on Saturday night over Austin Trout, which took place before a crowd of nearly 40,000 fans at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

“From the third round I could see that Trout was getting frustrated. Canelo grows with every single fight and shows that he is something special. When a fight is complicated there is a lot of tension, so of course he was a little tired at the end, but in general he was marvelous in the ring," De La Hoya said.
All these fights were at HW, where there is no weight limit. Besides, you may have noticed that the higher the weight class, the wider the weight margin. You have 122lbs, 126lbs and 130lbs , and you have 154-160-168. That's because the weight difference is calculated as a pe...

Canelo needs to pull a mosley and get in the ring once mayweather wins. If i was canelo i would shove or punch mayweather that would add a couple of thousand buys to the fight

Its a great move. Oscar will have Canelo confront him after the fight. The story on May 5 will be if Floyd will accept the challenge. Why wouldn't Floyd fight him if he is easy work like his fans are saying? If its so easy than there is no excuses as Floyd will make his biggest payday since Osc...
Floyd's a welterweight and if Canelo wants the fight he should come to 147.
Floyd won a title at 154, twice, and has yet to defend it there one time. time to start being a champion and taking on those challenges. Posted from Boxingscene.com App for Android
