Promoter Gary Shaw has advised BoxingScene.com that all of the terms have been agreed upon for "Bad" Chad Dawson (31-2, 17KOs) to defend his WBC light heavyweight title against hard-punching super middleweight Adonis Stevenson (20-1, 17KOs) on June 8th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. HBO will televise the fight.
"The contracts will be signed tomorrow, for June 8th from the Bell Centre, and on HBO," Shaw told BoxingScene.com.
Dawson was orginally scheduled to face Jean Pascal in a rematch on May 25th, but Pascal headed in another direction by reaching an agreement to face Lucian Bute in a high profile Canadian super-fight. Stevenson, the mandatory challenger to IBF champion Carl Froch, was left out in the cold when Froch finalized a deal to face WBA champion Mikkel Kessler in a rematch on May 25th in the UK.
Stevenson returned on Friday night at the Bell Centre, and scored a sixth round TKO over Darnell Boone - which avenged his sole career defeat. Boone handed Stevenson his only career loss with an upset two round TKO win in April of 2010.
Dawson is looking to resume his winning ways after September's disaster against WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward. For the first time since February 2006, Dawson dropped down to 168-pounds and was stopped in the tenth round.
