Olympic bronze medal winner David Price is still hoping to get his hands on British/EBU heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Price is back on Saturday night in Berlin, Germany against Brazilian Irineu Costa. The fight takes place on the undercard to Arthur Abraham's rematch defense of the WBO super middleweight title against Paul Smith.
"There is a genuine rivalry between me and Tyson Fury. It’s got a lot of history and that’s a fight that would get my juices flowing. He’s mandatory for the world title and I still think me and him have a got a natural rivalry, whereas the Anthony Joshua thing is being manufactured a little bit. There is a genuine rivalry between me and Tyson Fury. It’s got a lot of history and that’s a fight that would get my juices flowing," Price told Sky Sports.
Fury returns against Christian Hammer next Saturday night in London. He is then guaranteed a mandatory shot at heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko, who is scheduled to defend his world titles against Bryant Jennings in April.
“If he doesn’t get the opportunity then I would be willing to step in and create the big fight that he’s obviously going to want,” he said. “He’s obviously not going to want to fight for peanuts while he’s waiting for Klitschko and risking his opportunity.
“The fact is, he should get his opportunity, it’s only fair, but life isn’t fair at times and he may not get that opportunity. We’ll see what happens.”
