David Price believes he is doing the right thing by fighting veteran Matt Skelton in December.
The British and Commonwealth champion will fight the 45 year old next after getting another ageing Brit - Audley Harrison - out of the ring inside 90 seconds on Saturday.
However, Price (14-0) believes the former world title contender represents a decent challenge this early in his career.
Skelton fought on the undercard in Liverpool, earning a third stoppage win of the year, and is in the best shape of his career.
"I understand the scepticism surrounding the fight," Price told Boxing News. "Skelton was given a guarantee he would fight me.
"He was on standby in case Harrison pulled out - he went through with his part of the deal so we'll go through with ours.
"I'm aware he's 45 but he's a former British and European champion and fought for a world title. I'm still learning.
"People want to see me against better opposition but that will come. Whether that turns out to be against Tyson Fury, time will tell. He's doing a great job at promoting a fight that may or may not happen."
