Heavyweight contender David Price is very impressed with the rise of Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (16-0, 16KOs).
Earlier this month, Joshua captured the IBF heavyweight title with a second round knockout of Charles Martin at the O2 Arena in Las Vegas.
Price is targeting a ring return on May 29th at Goodison Park Stadium in Liverpool, as part of the Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu undercard.
Price himself won Olympic bronze. He was starting to recover back to back knockout defeats to veteran Tony Thompson, which took place in 2013, but his momentum stumbled last July after suffering a knockout loss to Erkan Teper, who afterwards failed a post-fight drug test with a positive hit for anabolic steroids.
Price believes a future showdown with Joshua is certainly possible. Before that happens, Price is focused on securing a few good wins under his belt.
"He has took the opportunity [to win a world title] with both hands, which I expected him to do really," said Price to Sky Sports. "Before the fight, I was asked questions and I didn't want to make it sound like it would be a washout."ing very good in training
"If I can get a couple of wins under my belt, at the end of the day I'm still a dangerous fighter, despite my losses. I'm an Olympic medallist like Anthony Joshua, two big men, and I think it would be a fight that the public would be interested in. Let's see what happens in my next couple of fights and we can start talking a bit more about it potentially happening."
