WBA heavyweight champion David Haye wants to duplicate the 2003 performance by Lennox Lewis, who shredded the left side of Vitali Klitschko's face. Klitschko needed 60 stitches to repair four cuts on his face and one in his mouth. Haye wants inflict the same type of damage to younger brother Wladimir Klitschko, the WBO/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion.
Klitschko and Haye will unify their titles in Germany on either June 25 or July 2. Haye wants to cause enough damage to force Vitali to the table in the fall.
“Yeah, definitely, just conclusively rip his face to shreds. And I wouldn’t want the referee or the doctor to stop it. I want him to take that 10 count and be completely unconscious. Hopefully, I’ll do the job on Wladimir so his big brother, Vitali, gets all touchy and it hits a nerve. No one likes their brother getting bashed up, especially with the beating I’m looking to inflict on Wladimir," Haye told The Daily Express.
“I know Vitali’s going to be there ringside, in Wladimir’s corner, so he’s going to see first-hand the destruction that I dish out on his little brother. And it’s going to be painful for him to sit back and watch me do it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vitali’s the one who stops this fight, gets into the ring and drags his brother out.”
