David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) still has ambitions to face Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) in 2018.

The former cruiserweight king and WBA heavyweight champion will return to action in December after recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in his loss to Tony Bellew in March.

Haye, 36, told Sky Sports News that he was looking forward to getting back in the ring.

"My foot is nice and healed and I've had reconstructive surgery on my Achilles' tendon," Haye stated.

His return in December is rumoured to be a rematch against Bellew. Talks are ongoing with nothing confirmed from either party. Once Haye has his festive fight out of the way he will turn his attention to the current WBA, IBF and IBO champion who will defend his titles against Kubrat Pulev on October 28th in Cardiff.

"Once I prove myself in December and am firing on all cylinders, I want the Joshua fight," said 'The Hayemaker'.

"If I get in the ring with him, I will find a way to beat the giant, he is 10 years younger, three inches taller and three stone bigger and I love and relish that kind of challenge. He is the number one and for good reason. You have the likes of (Joseph) Parker and (Deontay) Wilder, but 'AJ' has all the momentum and I aim at the very best.

"I do believe though that against Pulev, you will get a world-class performance from the heavyweight champion of the world. He can unify titles as long as he is not against me."

Haye takes a break from preparations next month, when he will don his promotional cap on October 20 for the Hayemaker stable, in association with Richard Schaefer's Ringstar, to present the debut of Olympic medalist Joe Joyce against Ian Lewison over 10 rounds at The O2 Indigo in London.
