Sources in Philadelphia have advised BoxingScene.com that a welterweight showdown between former champions Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (33-3-1, 18KOs) and Danny "Swift" Garcia (31-0, 18KOs) is being targeted for January 23rd, as the headliner of the Premier Boxing Champions debut card on FOX. The event will take in place in New York City or Los Angeles.
Guerrero was last seen in ring back in June, when he got off the floor in the fourth round to win a tough ten round split decision at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Martinez would go on in his next fight to upset two-division champion Devon Alexander.
The Ghost was the headliner of PBC's debut card on NBC in March, when he lost a spirited twelve round decision to WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman.
Garcia had a very tough outing in April, when he secured a twelve round majority decision over Lamont Peterson at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
He made his welterweight debut in August at the same venue, stopping former champion Paulie Malignaggi in nine rounds.
