Former two-division world champion Danny Garcia believes IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) took a lot of damage in his last three ring appearances - and especially he feels GGG took too much punishment in his last two fights.

Golovkin took more shots than normal when he stopped Kell Brook last September in UK. He came back in March of this year, and won a very close decision over Daniel Jacobs in New York City, and then went to a controversial twelve round draw with Canelo Alvarez in September.

During the bouts with Canelo and Jacobs, Golovkin certainly took his fair share of punches.

In order to continue his career in a positive manner, Garcia says Golovkin needs to learn some head movement because he's taking a lot of punches to the head in the last few fights.

"[GGG’s trainer Abel Sanchez] has got to teach him to move his head a little bit,’ Garcia told ES News.

"He says he fights with a Mexican style. I don’t think that’s a Mexican style. I had him winning [in the Canelo fight], but he definitely took some punishment in his last three fights. I’d like to see how he moves on from his last three fights."

Garcia had no problem with Canelo-Golovkin ending in a draw, because he felt GGG took way too many punches in that bout and also took too many shots in the points win over Jacobs.

"I wasn’t mad at a draw because Triple G was taking some punishment. In his last two fights, he’s taken a lot of punishment. Danny Jacobs landed a lot of big shots on him, and Canelo landed a lot of big shots," Garcia said.

There are ongoing negotiations for Golovkin to face Canelo in a rematch in the coming months. The two sides are focused on finalizing a second fight for the date of May 5th, Cinco De Mayo weekend, likely back at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
