Daniel Jacobs Eyes Return on October 20th at Barclays

By Rick Reeno

Middleweight contender Danny Jacobs (22-1, 19KOs) advised BoxingScene.com that he's currently in training for a planned ring return in the fall. Jacobs expects to be a part of Golden Boy Promotions' big event on October 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2011, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive type of cancer that was growing and manifested itself in a quarter-sized tumor that was wrapped around his spine and damaged his spinal nerve. Last May, Jacobs underwent life-saving surgery to remove the tumor.

He last fought in March of 2011.

I wonder if he had that tumor when he fought Pirog?

I hope he returns well to the ring.

I saw a few of his fights (pre-Pirog) & thought he was completely over-rated & over hyped. However, I'll be cheering him on all the way after what he's had to overcome. Good luck.
