D. Magdaleno Hopes To Face Rocky Martinez on 2/9

By Ryan Burton

Unbeaten super featherweight contender Diego Magdaleno (23-0) has advised BoxingScene that he doesn't think his injured left hand will keep him out of action very long. The 26-year-old southpaw was supposed to return to the ring next Friday but injured his hand during a sparring session last.

"I am still training.  I just can't use my left hand.  I am getting therapy on my hand which should help it heal faster. My doctor said I will be able to use it by the end of December," Magdaleno stated.

Before Magdaleno's injury there was talk of him facing WBO super featherweight champion Rocky Martinez on February 9th at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino as the co-featured return to Tim Bradley's ring return. Both fights are from finalized but the Las Vegas resident is confident that he will be ready to return by then and hopes the fight comes to fruition.

"I should be ready for February 9th. They talked to me about that fight and it is a fight I really want. I hopes it happens," Magdaleno told
