Curtis Woodhouse Back in Action on 5/17 in Sheffield

Next Friday (May 17th) sees Driffield’s Curtis Woodhouse make his first in-ring appearance since controversially losing his English light-welterweight title to Shayne Singleton back in March. The oft-exciting Woodhouse has been kept busy since the crushing setback as his online altercation with a Twitter troll became global news and has seen the Yorkshire man’s profile soar. Now set to campaign at lightweight, promoter Dave Coldwell is excited to see his charge back in action.

“It’s been an interesting couple of months for Curtis but his head is back on boxing now and he’s desperate to get back into title class,” revealed Coldwell. The loss to Singleton hurt badly but Curtis is made of tough stuff and there’s not many in the sport who have his drive and willpower. Time after time, Curtis has proved doubters wrong and his English title was supposed to be a stepping stone to bigger fights but that opportunity was wrongly taken away from him so he’s got to build again.”

Coldwell added, “Working with Curtis is a dream because he’s a fighter that just wants to fight and get in there and do his job. He’s told me that he wants to fight at lightweight now and that is something we’re looking at but he’s been at 140 for a while now so we want to see how his body copes with the change. There are a lot of potential crackers for him in that division and there are a few fights that I’ve already earmarked for so the rest of the year could be a real interesting time for Curtis.”

CURTIS WOODHOUSE MAKES HIS RETURN TO THE RING ON “BIG CITY, LIGHTS OUT” NEXT FRIDAY AT PONDS FORGE ARENA IN SHEFFIELD. THE SHOW ALSO FEATURES THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED REMATCH BETWEEN NAV MANSOURI AND NATHAN GRAHAM FOR THE VACANT ENGLISH LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM WWW.COLDWELLBOXING.COM
