This Saturday night from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas a junior welterweight unification bout takes place between WBO belt-holder Terence Crawford and WBC titlist, Viktor Postol. Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has stated that the winner of this bout will be in the running to face eight division champion Manny Pacquiao (58-5-2, 38KOs) as he returns in the fall.
But Brian 'Bomac' McIntyre, the co-manager of Crawford, took the comments of Pacquiao's longtime adviser, Michael Koncz, very personally.
In a recent article that appeared on BoxingScene.com, Koncz said Crawford was NOT in the running, never has been in the runnung and won't be in the future.
“We have not agreed on anything yet, he has been very busy with his Senatorial duties,” Koncz told scribe Mike Woods. "I will not make comments until authorized by Manny. We have not agreed to anything and if we fight again Crawford is not even a thought and never was.”
With that said, McIntyre fired back with the following:
"No, f***'em, he had his chances. They said they weren't even thinking about us, we weren't even in the equation. I think an article came out last week or something like that where Koncz..... he said,'They weren't even in the running.' Now you want to fight us? No, go about your business," the manger told BoxingScene.com.
So they'd really bypass this opportunity - and the payday that comes along with it?
"Its principle and pride because I felt like they strung us along the first time," explained McIntyre. "They strung us along. Now after Terence whips Postol's ass they want to put Pacquiao in front of us? No, go one, get somebody else."
