Cotto vs Bundrage: Steward Gives The Green Light

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com was advised by IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage that his trainer and manager Manny Steward has no issues with a potential fight that is being discussed between WBA champion Miguel Cotto and the former Contender series star.

Steward trains Miguel Cotto, and he trains and manages Bundrage, who is one of four names being considered for Cotto's next ring appearance on March 12. K9 advised BoxingScene that if the fight were to happen, Steward would simply stay away from training either fighter for the potential bout.

"He (Steward) told me that he just wouldn't train either of us. After the fight he would go back to training both of us."

Bundrage went on to say that he thinks a fight between himself and Miguel Cotto would be an all out war that the fans would enjoy.  It also would be a career high payday for the Detroit native.

"Manny know its business so he has no issues with the potential fight. I think a fight between Cotto and me would be like Sugar Ray Leonard versus Tommy Hearns. He don't back up and I don't either."
Steward is Bundrage's manager, not his trainer so he would be on Cotto's corner.
Maybe you should read through the thread first and then post. Why are you guys going crazy about Steward not being on Cotto's corner when it's a non issue.

I forget who all Bundrage has lost to, but Cotto should easily beat him or he needs to retire. Lol. Cotto is the vacant belt winning Contender killer.
Don't like the idea of Steward not training Cotto for this fight, makes no sense.
this....^^^^ thats taking backward steps..... :nonono: I would rather see him against somebody that doesnt have steward as manager/trainer... they need to build a chemistry, that doesnt ju...

If this is true that Steward would not train Miguel for the fight, then this is a horrible fight. Otherwise fine by me. Decent name, winnable fight and another belt.
