NEW YORK — Like a typical New Yorker, Austin Trout jokingly shook his head in disgust and offered a “no comment” when asked about the trials and tribulations associated with being a longtime supporter of the Jets, Mets and Knicks. Austin Trout was raised in Las Cruces, N.M., but the WBA 154-pound champion has deep roots in Brooklyn and Harlem, where he spent plenty of time during his formative years. He fully understands, however, that virtually everyone in the capacity crowd at Madison Square Garden will cheer for Miguel Cotto on Dec. 1. That just makes Trout (25-0, 14 KOs) more determined to send them home as disappointed as any Mets fan from Citi Field, Jets fan from MetLife Stadium or Knicks fan from the Garden.

By Jake Donovan - For years, Miguel Cotto caught flak for not being expressive enough in calling out fighters. “I fight who my promoter puts in front of me” was almost always the response whenever the question was posed. Deep into the twilight of his career, it’s clear that the statement wasn’t just a token response, but a way of life in the ring. Others can talk about fighting the best; Cotto will simply go in the ring and actually do it. The Puerto Rican superstar once again stays true to form with his latest assignment, a December 1 challenge against unbeaten 154 lb. titlist Austin Trout. The bout takes place at Madison Square Garden, exactly 52 weeks following his revenge-fueled 10th round stoppage win over Antonio Margarito last December. Cotto’s victory over Margarito was the closure he sought in his career, waiting more than three years for that moment to arrive. The night itself was a reminder of his drawing power in the Big Apple, playing to a packed house and raking in 600,000 pay-per-view buys.

BoxingScene.com went behind the scenes with WBA "regular" junior middleweight champion Austin Trout, as the unbeaten boxer took part in a photo shoot and several video shots were done. The material will be used by Showtime to promote his December 1st title defense against Miguel Cotto on December 1st at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The fight takes place on December 1st at New York's Madison Square Garden. The fight will be televised by Showtime.

NEW YORK - Though he proudly represents his native Puerto Rico every time he steps between the ropes, Miguel Cotto can easily call New York City his second home, as he is unbeaten in nine fights in the Big Apple since turning professional in 2001. On Saturday, December 1 the former Four-Time and Three-Division World Champion expects to have a full house cheering him on at the "Mecca of Boxing," Madison Square Garden, as he looks to add another title belt to his collection when he takes on WBA Super Welterweight World Champion Austin "No Doubt" Trout in a fight that will be telecast live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING.
