WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto was not interested in watching the recent victory by Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who knocked out James Kirkland in the third round on May 9th in Houston, Texas.

Cotto is training for scheduled defense of his title on June 6th against former three time champion Daniel Geale at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

If Cotto wins that match, it is expected that he will face Canelo in the fall.

The Puerto Rican star says Kirkland was very inactive and he fully expected that outcome.

"With Canelo-Kirkland, I'll have to ask HBO for the tape to watch it," said Cotto to El Vocero. "What did Kirkland have left? He got knocked out by Ishida, then beat Angulo and then we didn't really see any good moments from him. He only had a win over Tapia. So I knew what to expect from that fight so I didn't watch it."
