| Cotto Heads To Alvarez-Lopez, Eyes Canelo For May

By Damián "Zafa" Ferrer and Ryan Burton BoxingScene.com has been advised that former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30KOs) will head for Las Vegas tonight. Cotto will be ringside at the MGM Grand on Saturday to watch Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs) defend his WBC 154-pound title against Josesito Lopez (30-4, 18KOs). Cotto faces WBA "regular" junior middleweight champion Austin Trout on December 1st in New York. Alvarez is scheduled to return in December if he gets past Lopez on Saturday. Our sources tell us that Cotto hopes to face Alvarez on May 4th, 2013 if both fighters win their upcoming bouts. I couldn't understand how Canelo thought he was ready for Mayweather without testing himself against Cotto. If he gets past Cotto, then and only then is he ready for Money May. If he loses, then he's got more work to do. I expect Cotto to send Canelo back to the drawing board. In my opinion, Cane... |

You guys do realize Cottos lil brother rocked Alvarez a couple of years ago... and Alphonzo Gomez was holding his own vs Alvarez as well not too long ago... |
